note to self: reading hp:hbp when you are in a good mood is stupid.
lol... i reread the book and got sadded by the ending again. and just when i was in a good mood too.
anyway, yesterday was grad night! one of the hightlights of the holidays but it was kinda a waste...
picked up my specs yesterday afternoon. looks pretty good but i still felt kinda cheated. the lenses was supposed to be "ultrathin" but unless my eyes are deceiving me, they look exactly as thick as my old specs. oh well, can't do anything about that now.
was initially supposed to take a taxi to the hotel de but then was informed by rui hong the day before and louis at 5 that they were not taking the taxi.
-_-''...
thus i had to rush like crazy to meet yj and gang at hougang mrt at 5.30. and i must say that it was a weird experience walking in the streets and taking the mrt in those clothes.
we were one of the first few there and got pretty bored after taking the photos so we went in to wait.
then came the problems with the tables.
initially, we were told our seat were d10 but going in we saw no d10 so we just sat at no.10 then some others came in and they told us they were supposed to sit at b10.
now that can't be right, can it?
this resulted in us going out again and checking the table number. now we were told that as long as we filled up one table we could sit and any table we like. we were ok with that and then proceeded to write the messages for some of the people. more people started coming and just after the mc told us to get to our sit for the dinner was about to start, we were told we were in the wrong sit and had to change sit. now we were sitting with some of the girls from e5.
...
i dunno how they arranged this but the e4's were at table 10 and table 4? which happenes to be in totally opposite sides of the room and kinda defeating the purpose of the grad night which is to enjoy one last night together. i totally don't see why all the classes can have their tables close to each other except for our class. about 60% of my mood for grad night was killed at this point.
then i took a look at the menu.
i was immediatly visited by the thought that whoever set the menu had something against me. guess what was on the menu. seafood, seafood and more seafood! and to top it all off, the desert was MANGO pudding!
urgh.
they seemed to know exactly what i hated and served everything. but due to the presence of others, i forced everything down and tried everything. it was the first time i tried eating prawns that were larger then a shrimp.
and i am so not gonna try it again anytime soon. it just doesn't suit my taste buds.
the rest was pretty ok though. at least i didn't feel naseous or anything after eating them. thankfully the mango pudding didn't have much of a mango taste to it. however, due to the nature of the food, i just sampled everything and by the end of the dinner, i was still feeling pretty hungry. good thing i had learned to never expect to be full at this kinda dinner so i didn't mind the food part much. after all, there were more important things about the grad night. lets just say that by the time we went off, i was in one of the best moods i have been in for a while =)
let's move on to the activities of the grad night shall we?
first of course was the happenings at the table. it wasn't much fun sharing a table with people you hardly know. thankfully though, especially for jy, someone wasn't there or else it would have been a total torture. it was rather awarkard, with the guys from our class being gentleman and asking the girls to eat first and then them asking ask to eat first. -_-''.... shouldn't have this problem if we were eating with our own classes...not much fun either as there wasn't much to talk about with strangers around. i curse the table arrangement. we weren't the worse off though. marchand had to sit alone with a table full of 5n girls and he wasn't allowed to change seats even after his request. his dinner must have been super awarkard. mind you, if it were me, i think i would just walk out and go home or something.
there were a few remotely interesting games held and some lucky draws. i must compliment the emcee here though. he managed to make the not-so-interesting games a little more interesting. heard that last year's emcee was crap so i guess we should count ourselves lucky. oh yeah, the lucky draw was kinda weird but since when was it ever proportionate so i wasn't too bothered by it.
then there was the dance. god, i am still wondering now how my eardrums survived it. you had to shout to be heard even if you are talking in each other's ears. pity i can't dance to save my life but i still enjoyed it. oh yeah, there was just this highly embarassing part though. i got taunted by kobe to go up to the stage to dance. and there i was on the stage like an idiot. got off in a hurry. urgh... wth does leo ppl get ji-jiang-fa-ed so easily de.
i think me, kobe and hq was among the last to leave. walked around for a bit before deciding to go play pool at hougang plaza. got a little shock there though. it was past midnight and the lan shop room was full? o.O... the billard and pool area were pretty full too. and it's not like it's the weekend either. wah... all these ppl so free...
so all in all, the grad night could have been loads better but it could have been much worse too. at least i enjoyed myself and was happy by the end of the night. i am glad that i didn't miss this once in a life time thingy. for one, i wouldn't have seen how different everyone looked. almost couldn't recognise some of the people. some people looked stunning while there were also some who looked... weird.pity i didn't get to see everyone though. there wasn't much time to look around but from what i see, most people put a lot of effort into the grad night so here's a thanks to everyone who made the grad night fun and great!
