14 October

went for some open houses today.

the nyjc one was...disappointing to say the least. there wasn't much going on and we were basically taking a self-guided tour of the sch. well, it's new and looks nice but that's about it though

then we went for the tjc one. had some trouble going there but when we reached there, we were actually welcomed! the two tour guides brought us around for the whole... 1hr+? then everyone in the school was so friendly and then got the homely feeling.

tried squash for the first time too. siasuayed. i thought have to bounce the ball on the floor before hitting then i was throwing the ball on the floor and then swinging but not hitting cos the ball doesn't bounce -_-''... uber siasuay when i whacked wy on my first swing at the ball. decided not to try for anything after that.

walked around the sch quite a bit but still haven explore finish yet! still quite a lot of places haven go to, eg: hall, classrooms and labs but then it's loads bigger then ny. ok, it looks old but then got jia de gan jua you know? the people there are all quite friendly and trys to make you feel at home. then at the end, we watched a mass dance performed by the tjcians! totally cool. there were actually people running to join those dancing leh. you wanna see that in our sch wait long long lor! plus, according to them, their p is nice and they like her

however, even though i loved tj, there are some problems though.

1. transport.
it takes around 1 hr for me to get to sch. that's counting the bus ride alone so factoring in the waiting time abt 1 hr 20 minutes? gotta wake up very early.

2. cca.
in ny i already decided on dragonboat but then tj dun have! i am not that sports inclined thus asking me to learn a sport and being able to be playing competitively, especially when there are those who already learned them before jc is asking a little too much of me. i looked through the list and didn't find any that i feel comfortable with. btw i die also must go sports cca. i had enough of boring ccas like lib.

3. the biggest problem. my results
prelim are definately out le but O should be able to make it. aiming for around 8 or 9 before deduction but then liddat go in will be among the bottom half. i dun like the feeling >.<... now already got owned enough liao...

then i read their forums. it's full of nice people and they mostly like their sch but then they also have some problems leh. read a thread about their grad night and felt a little turn off. they are now having trouble finding people to go for their grad night, so much so that they are now having 35% discount for those who sign up now, which is totally unfair to those who signed up first and paid the full $85. btw it's at ritz carlton which explains that price tag but most of them feels that it's too ex and that it's not gonna be fun cos the last year one sucks and blablabla. end result? next year de grad night is cancelled. so this year de j1 no grad night and of not fault of theirs. just because the seniors dun wanna go means the juniors suffer meh? totally unfair lor...

don't get me wrong, the rest of the forum is still pretty good. they bother helping their own schmates with problems and such but that one thread turned me off a little.

so i am now stuck in a dilemma. ny or tj? i love tj alot but then there are those problems. ny doesn't have these problems but their open house disappointed me. worse of all, i dunno anyone from these two schools and thus i have no one to ask more info from. argh!
